Pom Pom Edge

I was looking
for a cute border
to put on
a granny square blanket
I just finished
and came across this

I needed to modify it
for my blanket
and wanted
to remember how I did it
so I thought I would post
how I did it here

I just love this cute pom pom stitch

To start join with
a single crochet
then chain 6

3 double crochet
in 3rd chain from hook
holding back last stitch
of each double crochet
on your hook

You will have 4 stitches
on your hook
Yarn over and pull thru all loops
(cluster stitch made)

Chain 3

Make a second cluster stitch
in the loop that closed
 your first cluster stitch

Join with a slip stitch
where your first cluster begins

To do this
go thru the stitch
leaving 1 part of the stitch
in the back
and 2 parts in the front

Chain 3
Single crochet in your next space

There you have it....

Cute little pompoms
along the edge
of your blanket

They do take
a little while
to make
but
are well worth
the
cute factor
that they give
to my blanket!!

  36. I don't get the part when you say "go thru the stitch
leaving 1 part of the stitch in the back and 2 parts in the front." Can you elaborate?

    1. When you do a chain crochet stitch there are 3 parts that make the chain. Two loops in the front and one in the back. If you look at picture 7 you will see the two loops on the front (that the hook is going thru) and there is one behind the hook. If you dont go thru this space the stitch will not hold. If you look at the picture here http://www.countryfarm-lifestyles.com/how-to-crochet.html in figure 1 you can see the 3 loops tha tmake up a chain. I dont think it much matters which two you pick up because sometimes I cant tell which is which just as long as you are anchoring your stitch there. Hope this helps.

    2. Oh I see! Like when they say to go into the 'back bump' of the stitch, right? Thank you for your reply, that does help!

  79. Hi!
I was wondering if it would be OK with you if I translate your tutorial on how to make this beautiful and fun Pom Pom Edge into Swedish and put it on my blog (www.lillavirkevira.blogspot.se). I started my blog with the aim to spread the craft and crochet inspiration I have found in English on the WWW and translate and introduce them to those Swedish crafters/crocheters that are not that familiar with English crochet terms and expressions. I am not trying to poach your page views or in anyway steel traffic to your blog – so if you want I could make a Swedish translation for you to post on your blog.

And don't worry, if you decide to give me your permission to translate the tutorial and/or pattern - I would use my own pictures and most certainly will state that it is your design and idea as well as include a link back to your blog.

    Looking forward to your reply!
