CRESCHENDOh ~ Art Saves

Yesterday was the most awesome and awe inspiring girls road trip ever.

We drove up to Orange, which is where where I grew up, and started the day by shopping.  We hit a couple thrift stores, then had lunch at Watson Drug Store.  When I was growing up in Orange Watsons Drug was owned by a classmates family.  It was the place to hang out.

Being in Orange brought back so many memories of growing up there.

I remember in high school all of us driving around the circle after a football game when we won and honking our horns.  Remember streaking??  Well we watched classmates do that too around the circle……that was the big thing in the 70s.  When I got married at a nearby church in 1980 we drove in the limo around the circle honking the horn and everyone in the wedding party following on the way to the reception.

Then we headed for Country Roads ~ my favorite store at the circle.

Little Green Tree

A few weeks ago Shelley at House of Smiths, posted a tutorial on how to make a hanging flower ball

I loved the flower balls she made so I started going thru my stuff looking for supplies to make one.

I had lots of crepe paper and found a styrofoam tree…..no balls.  So this is what I came up with.

A flower tree.

The crepe paper is vintage that I found at a thrift store.  I think at one time it got wet and the color faded or ran so its kinda tye dyed.  It was perfect for my tree.

So I had this tree.  Now I needed a stand to put it on.  I thought out of all the junk knick knacks I have there has to be something I can put this tree on.

Then I saw the perfect thing.

One of those things you buy, but you don't know what you are going to do with.  But its cool and cheep ~ dollar store cheep.  In fact so cool that you buy 2.

The top of this whatever it is has a point which was perfect.  I poked the point with some hot glue on it up into the tree and wala……a tree with a stand.

So this is the little green flower tree.

It took  * f o r e v e r *  to make all those roses

But I really like how it turned out.

Thanks Shelley for your tutorial.  Go check it out….I think they would make a really cute gift to give someone special.

Fun & Frilly

The other day one of my co-workers wore this

 to die for

* cute scarf *

that she just bought on vacation in Arizona.

Yeah in Arizona.

~ SO ~

I printed out my 40% off coupon and

hit the fabric store.

This is what I came up with.

The lace pieces on the end are the ones

I just bought in LA…….yeah the

50 cents

a piece ones.

DSC03697

I didn't hem the ruffle and it is

really

fraying a lot….but I kinda like the way it looks

all frayed.

DSC03695

I can hardly wait to wear it to work tomorrow.

I have the perfect

T-shirt and little sweater to wear it with.

  I Just LOVE it!!!

I'm going to go back

and

get the black fabric I liked

and make another one.

(I'm proud to say I did stay on task and buy only enough to make one ~ usually I but enough to make 10 and only make one……anyone else out there like that?)

*** Fun Necklaces ***

When my granddaughter was born I made this soldered necklace for her mom.

The picture I used is one that I took at the hospital when she was born.
